Discussion meeting on reform of education system of DU held

Under the initiative of Dhaka University Teachers' Association, a discussion meeting on the reform of the university's education system was held on Monday at Professor Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan spoke on the occasion.
Under the chairmanship of Professor Robayet Ferdous of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, the treasurer of the university took part in the discussion. Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Professor of Economics. Salim Raihan and anti-discrimination student movement coordinators Umama Fatema and Abdul Quader. The professor of anthropology department presented the draft proposal on the reform of the education system. Jobida Nasreen, Associate Professor of Japanese Studies Department. During the discussion, short, medium and long term draft proposals were presented to make Dhaka University a democratic educational institution capable of producing efficient human resources and timely leadership. Apart from this, a practical outline for reorganizing the university's power structure is also suggested.
Formation of 'anti-bullying-harassment-discrimination cell' to stop bullying and harassment of teachers-students, preparation of 'code of conduct' for teachers-students-officials-employees, student-friendly and modernized admission test, development of accommodation and food management of students, health and co- The negotiators spoke on various issues including strengthening educational activities, creating scholarships, loans and employment opportunities, stopping student politics, teacher recruitment, promotion and modernization of teaching methods, ensuring teachers' accountability, increasing research allocation, infrastructure planning and decentralization of powers.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan expressed his sincere thanks to the teaching community for presenting this draft proposal and organizing the discussion meeting. He said that this university is everyone's institution, everyone's cooperation is needed to make this institution a knowledge-based and democratic institution.
