Colouring, rewriting of July graffiti on DU campus begins

The repainting/rewriting activity to preserve July graffiti painted on various walls of Dhaka University has started today, Saturday, August 1, 2026. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam inaugurated the activity as the chief guest at a function at the main gate of the Vice Chancellor's residence on Saturday morning.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh, Proctor Md. Israfil Prang and Director of Arbori Culture Center Prof Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, along with teachers and students, were present at the time.
Keeping the original characteristics, spirit and significance of graffiti intact, a graffiti painting/rewriting program will be conducted from the Vice-Chancellor's Building to Rokeya Hall on August 1, 2 and 3. Registered students and artists are participating in the graffiti painting/rewriting program.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam said, the graffiti of July is a reminder of the misrule of the fallen fascist government. Initiatives have been taken to preserve the graffiti to keep the memory of the fascist government's torture and oppression alive in the public mind..
Amar Ekushey Hall:
A discussion meeting will be held at the auditorium of Amar Ekushey Hall today, August 1, at 7:30 pm to mark the second anniversary of the historic July Uprising. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam will be the chief guest at the event, while Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the northern region of the NCP.will be present as the special guest.
Department of Microbiology:
On this occasion, on July 29, at the initiative of the Department of Microbiology, a program titled “July Revolution and the Mass Uprising of Students and the People” was organized at the Anwarul Azim Chowdhury Lecture Gallery. At the program, students presented their dreams and possibilities for the future of Bangladesh. Acting Dean of the Faculty of Biology, University of Dhaka, Prof Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Acting Chairman of the Department of Microbiology, Prof Dr. Md. Manjurul Karim and Student Advisor Dr. Samina Momtaz spoke at the program.
