Coast Guard seized 1-kg crystal meth worth Tk 5cr in Teknaf

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized one kilogram of crystal meth, commonly known as "Ice," valued at approximately Tk 5 crore, along with a wooden engine boat from the Naf River in Shahparidwip, Teknaf upazila.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, media officer of the Coast Guard headquarters said this in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Coast Guard, acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Outpost Shahpari in the Naf River around 2:00 AM on Tuesday.
When personnel signaled a suspicious engine-driven wooden boat to stop, smugglers on board ignored the command and fled toward nearby Golarchar, abandoning the watercraft. Consequently, no arrests were made during the operation.
Subsequent searches of the abandoned boat led to the recovery of 1 kg of crystal meth and the seizure of the smuggling vessel.
Legal procedures have been taken regarding the confiscated narcotics and the boat, while the Coast Guard reiterated its commitment to conducting continuous anti-narcotics operations to curb substance abuse.
