Fourteen destitute, helpless, and impoverished women in Dohar upazila have received sewing machines after applying through the specialized service platform "Hello DC."

Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam distributed the sewing machines on Sunday to empower the women through self-employment and help them become self-reliant.

According to the district administration, the upazila administration meticulously verified the socio-economic backgrounds of the applicants following their submissions on the Hello DC platform before selecting the 14 most deserving candidates.

Speaking at the distribution event, Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam stated that the district administration is actively working to make government social safety net programs and women's empowerment initiatives more effective. She emphasized that the administration's goal extends beyond mere financial or material aid, focusing instead on creating self-employment opportunities to make people self-sufficient.

She noted that the Hello DC service enables the swift and seamless delivery of government assistance to truly vulnerable populations. Expressing optimism, she hoped that the beneficiaries would utilize the sewing machines to contribute to their families' financial development and achieve self-reliance.

The district administration affirmed that it will continue receiving applications from impoverished and helpless individuals through the Hello DC platform in the future, providing necessary assistance based on careful verification.
