Coast Guard rescued 12 fishermen, disabled fishing boat drifting in deep sea

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has successfully rescued 12 fishermen alive along with their disabled fishing boat after it drifted in the deep sea.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer, shared the information on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Coast Guard, the fishing boat named FV Mayer Doa with 12 fishermen on board suffered a mechanical failure and its engine broke down while fishing around 8:00 PM on Sunday leaving it drifting in the deep sea about 12 nautical miles south of Dublar Char in the Sundarbans.
When the boat drifted into mobile network coverage around 6:30 PM on August 24, one of the fishermen contacted the boat owner, who immediately called the Coast Guard emergency service number 16111 to seek assistance.
Acting promptly on the information, Coast Guard Station Dubla conducted a rescue operation and successfully rescued all 12 fishermen alive along with their disabled boat from the deep sea area.
The rescued fishermen were provided with primary medical treatment and necessary food. Processes are underway to hand over the boat and the fishermen to the owners' representatives.
The Coast Guard media officer reiterated that the force will continue conducting such prompt rescue operations in the future to ensure safety at sea.
