The Bangladesh Coast Guard has recovered weapons, ammunition, and 5,000 Yaba tablets in two separate operations in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer, confirmed the details on Wednesday afternoon (August 26).

According to the Coast Guard, acting on a tip-off that a robber gang had gathered in the hills near the 14th Bridge in Damdomia under Teknaf Police Station to commit abduction and robbery, a joint operation by Coast Guard Station Teknaf and the police was conducted on Wednesday morning (August 26) at 5:00 AM. Sensing the presence of the joint forces, the robbers fled into the hills. Subsequent searches of the area led to the recovery of one foreign G-3 rifle (with magazine), two domestic firearms, three local weapons, 13 rounds of live ammunition, and one liter of local liquor.

In a separate operation, based on secret information, Coast Guard Station Teknaf and Sabrang conducted a special raid on Tuesday night (August 25) at 8:00 PM in the Sabrang area of Teknaf. During a search of a suspicious residential house, 5,000 Yaba tablets worth approximately Tk 25 lakh were seized. No arrests could be made as the drug traffickers managed to escape upon sensing the Coast Guard's presence.

Legal processes are underway regarding the recovered weapons, ammunition, and seized narcotics.

The media officer emphasized that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to maintain law and order and curb the severe spread of drugs across the country.
