Intensive preparations are underway in Fatikchhari for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's possible visit to Chittagong on August 9. Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin visited Fatikchhari on Tuesday afternoon to monitor preparations for the visit and security arrangements.

Earlier, he visited Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif. Later, he visited Al Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa.

During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner visited the helipad built at the C&B field in the Paindang Pelaghazi Dighi area of Fatikchhari, adjacent to the Chittagong-Khagrachari regional highway, and the surrounding areas. He gave necessary directions to the concerned officials to ensure overall management, protocol and security on the occasion of the possible arrival of the Prime Minister.

At that time, Divisional Commissioner of Journalists Dr. Md. Ziauddin said, "The administration has already started preparations for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's possible visit to Chittagong. All necessary preparations are being made since the interest in the visit was expressed. We hope that the Prime Minister's arrival will instill new hope among the people affected by the recent floods."

He further said, "All necessary measures are being taken to properly welcome the Prime Minister and complete every program of the visit successfully and in an orderly manner. Like in the past, this time too, the administration will carry out its duties with utmost importance after receiving the final program."

At this time, DIG of Chittagong Range Abdul Quddus exchanged views with law enforcement officials on security measures and directed them to ensure maximum security in the entire area.

Fatikchhari Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sayeed Muhammad Ibrahim, Chittagong Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari Circle) Kazi Tarek Aziz, senior officials of the district and upazila administration and members of various law enforcement agencies were present during the inspection.

According to sources, the Prime Minister is planning to visit flood-hit Fatikchhari, Hathazari and Banshkhali upazilas during this possible visit. On this occasion, construction of helipads, road renovation, preparation of possible public meeting places, strengthening security and other ancillary works are being taken forward quickly. This visit by the Divisional Commissioner is being seen as an important part of the final preparations for the Prime Minister's possible visit.

Along with administrative preparations, there is also widespread enthusiasm among local political leaders and activists and the general public regarding the Prime Minister's potential visit.
