Clothing shop gutted in Goalando fire, loss worth over Tk 15 lakh estimated

A fire broke out at a clothing store called Zam Zam Fashion and Tailors on the ground floor of Habib Mansion, located next to the highway in front of the Goalanda Upazila Parishad in Rajbari, causing damage worth over Tk 1.5 million.

Sonali Bank Goalando Upazila Complex is located on the second floor of a three-story building. There are residential homes in the other two units and four units on the third floor. At this time, extreme panic spread among the residents of the building. Shamim Bepari, manager of Zam Zam Fashion and Tailors, said that he rushed to the shop around 8:45 am after receiving the news. He quickly opened the shop with the key and saw that the fire was burning inside. Although he does not know exactly how the fire started, he believes it could have been caused by an electrical short circuit. He believes that the damage is more than 1.5 million taka.
Sonali Bank Goalando Upazila Complex Branch Manager Md. Motahar Hossain said, when he reached the bank at around 9:30, he saw fire service personnel working to put out the fire. As the smoke spread throughout the building, many thought that the bank was on fire. Panic spread among the residents of the building, including the bank staff. Although the bank's operations started at 10 am, the bank's operations could not be resumed at the scheduled time due to the smoke. After about 15 minutes, the operations resumed at 10:15 am.
Goalando Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Officer Abdur Rahman said, "We received the information at around 9:04 am and quickly reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. Initially, it is estimated that the damage is around 1.5 million taka. Initially, it is estimated that the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit."
