Brick kiln dam breaks in Magura :  One million bricks, 5 bighas  of paddy field flooded

Magura Correspondent

There have been allegations that a brick kiln's embankment was broken in the Bagbaria area of Magura Sadar Upazila. The owner of the kiln is fearing huge financial losses as about one million bricks of the brick kiln and five bighas of paddy land nearby will be flooded.

According to the complaint, Md. Aminur Rahman (48), son of the late Atiar Rahman of Durgapur village in Magura Sadar upazila, has been running a brick kiln named 'Ms. Biswas Bricks' in Bagbaria area.

On September 8 at 9 pm, Aminur Rahman went home after looking after the brick kiln. The next day, on September 9, around 6 am, his partner Md. Raju Biswas (35) called and said that someone had broken the embankment in the northeast corner of the brick kiln. As a result, water entered the kiln, damaging about one million bricks and inundating five bighas of paddy land nearby.

After the incident, he and his partner tried to identify those involved in the incident by discussing with local people, but they could not immediately identify anyone.
