The Binodpur Model Crematorium at Bhabanpara in Mohammadpur Upazila has been successfully completed, becoming the first model crematorium constructed in Khulna Division.

Built under the guidance of the Magura District Administration and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), the facility fulfills a long-standing demand of the local Hindu community.

The supervision and execution of the project were managed by LGED Magura Executive Engineer A.N.M. Wahiduzzaman, Mohammadpur Upazila Engineer Saddam Hossain, and Assistant Engineers Abdul Kader and Obadur Kader.

Located along the banks of the Nabaganga River in the Bhabanpara area of Binodpur Union, the crematorium is spread across 23.5 decimals of land, including an access road. Built using a modern architectural blueprint, the facility incorporates durable uniblock paving and high-grade construction materials designed for longevity.

The project was implemented under the Rural Social Infrastructure Development Project of the Local Government Division. The estimated cost for the initiative was Tk 2,18,35,999, with the final contract value fixed at Tk 2,26,86,904.81. Chuadanga-based contracting firm M/S Saiful Hasan Joarder carried out the construction.

Expressing satisfaction over the project, Harashit Kumar Saha, President of the Binodpur Crematorium and Temple Committee, said, "We are delighted to receive such a modern model crematorium in Mohammadpur Upazila. Previously, families struggled immensely to transport bodies to the site, but the new facilities have resolved those difficulties. Beyond cremations, regular prayers and worship take place at the temple, drawing devotees from far away."

Naresh Kumar Saha, General Secretary of the committee, added that people from various parts of Magura district now come to use the crematorium. "Devotees regularly gather here to see the new complex. We extend our sincere gratitude on behalf of the local residents to everyone whose hard work made this model crematorium a reality," he said.
