Mobile court operation in Ramgarh stops child marriages, imposes fine

A mobile court operation has been conducted in Tholipara village of Patachhara union in Ramgarh upazila of Khagrachhari after receiving information about child marriage.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Deen Al Jannat conducted the operation on Sunday (August 9) at around 2:30 pm.
According to the mobile court sources, after receiving a secret information about a girl studying in class 6 in Ward No. 05, Patachhara Union of Ramgarh Upazila, the truth of the incident was found and a mobile court was conducted against child marriage. The child marriage was immediately stopped on the spot. The girl's father, Md. Mohin Uddin Manik (38), was fined Tk 10,000/- under Section 8 of the Child Marriage Prohibition Act, 2017, subject to his confession, and a bond was taken from the groom and the guardians of both parties. All those present were made aware of the harmful effects of child marriage.
Ramgarh UNO Kazi Shamim said, "Based on secret information, we conducted a drive and found the truth of the incident. Such drives to prevent child marriage will continue in the future."
