Betagi municipality announces Tk 38.90 cr open budget without new taxes

Betagi Municipality in Barguna has announced an open budget of Tk 38 crore 90 lakh 10 thousand for the 2026-2027 fiscal year without imposing any new taxes.
The budget was presented on Thursday at noon at the municipality conference room. Betagi municipality Executive Engineer Md. Jasim Uddin placed the budget proposal. The event was presided over by municipal administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muh. Saddam Hossain.
Speaking at the event, municipal Executive Officer A.H.M. Rashed Iqbal, Betagi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Harun-or-Rashid Hawladar, former general secretary of Upazila BNP Jalilur Rahman Khan Nanna, former president of municipal BNP Azizur Rahman Hawladar, professor of Betagi Government College Md. Shafiqul Islam, vice president of Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Asadul Islam Chinu, president of Betagi Press Club Abdus Salam Siddiqui, and president of Citizens for Good Governance - SUJAN Saidul Islam Montu were present.
Representatives of freedom fighters, educational institutions, NGOs and journalists, along with officials and employees of the municipality at all levels, also attended the programme.
During the discussion, participants raised concerns over the newly constructed water treatment plant in Betagi municipality. Although the construction work has been completed, residents are yet to receive its benefits.
In response to public demand, the Executive Engineer urged the municipal administrator to intervene quickly to ensure water supply from the plant.
