Awards, Insignia presentation ceremony : Fire Service DG's call to appreciate good work

Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, NDC, AFWC, PSC, Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, has called on all officers to appreciate their good work at the 'Honor and Insignia Award' ceremony held at the conference room of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters at 10 am on Wednesday.
At the ceremony, 40 selected officers and employees who have shown special bravery in operational work across the country were commended by the Director General and representatives of 28 fire stations selected through a competition on various criteria set for operational and administrative work from across the country were awarded with honor crests. At the same ceremony, the Director General, along with the directors, presented rank badges to 14 newly promoted warehouse inspectors.
Upon arriving at the program at 10:00 am, Director (Training, Planning and Development) Lt. Col. MA Azad Anwar, PSC, respectfully greeted the Director General. Then the program began with the reading of the holy scriptures. Religious teacher Muhaddis Kazi Sharif Ullah read from the scriptures.
The Director (Training, Planning and Development) delivered the welcome speech at the event. Then the Director General handed over the insignia, certificates and cash awards with the words 'Director General's Appreciation' to the 40 selected officers and employees. Then he handed over the crests as a memento to the representatives of the 28 best fire stations selected from all over the country. Awards were given to 5 best fire stations each from Dhaka and Chittagong divisions and 3 best fire stations each from other divisions.
It is to be noted that, as per the kind instructions of the Director General, this selection process has been completed by forming committees in every department across the country. In the selection process, group-based participation (pump drill, delivery hose layout, firefighting suit and BA set wear-quick dress, proficiency in operating rescue equipment, ladder climbing), combined drill, proper preservation and maintenance of various registers, entry of all instructions sent by the Director General in the occurrence register, proper implementation of all activities as per daily routine, calculation of fuel of the station, verification and testing of methods, maintenance and preservation activities of various equipment, regular mass communication and topography and inclusion of mass communication and topography issues in the register, standard of discipline of the station from January 2025 to June 2026, timely implementation of transfer and attached orders, cleanliness of the station area and barracks building, knowledge related to the use of social media, etc. are considered as criteria for selecting the best fire station.
Three officers from among those who received the Director General's praise and one from among those who were promoted expressed their reactions. Mr. Farhad Hossain, Deputy Assistant Director of Rajshahi District, expressed his gratitude for organizing such an innovative competition and introducing the award. Mr. Khaleda Yasmin, the newly promoted Warehouse Inspector, expressed her excitement at being promoted and expressed her gratitude and thanks to all the officers concerned, including the Director General.
Then, the Director of the Department (Ap: and Main:) Lt. Col. Md. Mahmudul Hasan, PSC, delivered a speech. He remembered 1 driver and 1 inspector of the Fire Service who had recently passed away. Then, the Director (Administration and Finance) Mr. Md. Shahid Atahar Hossain delivered a speech. He thanked the Director General and highlighted the progress of various administrative activities of the Fire Service. In his speech as the chief guest, the Director General praised the operational work of the Fire Service in various accidents across the country. He gave instructions to conduct such activities regularly to increase the quality of service of the Fire Service.
The event was attended by all levels of officials and employees working in Dhaka, including the Project Director, Managing Director of the Welfare Trust, Deputy Directors of the Directorate and various departments. In addition, officials and employees of various ranks of the department and district were involved in the event online from their respective workplaces.
