Bangladesh HP beat Malaysia by 7 wickets in final T20 to dominate series

Omar Faruk

Electing to bat first after winning the toss in the final T20 of the series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Malaysia scored 105 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh HP reached the target in just 7.4 overs with the loss of 3 wickets.

Malaysia had a shaky start to their innings. In the third over, Saif Ullah was bowled by Mohammad Rubel for a 5-ball duck. An over later, left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan removed Aslam Khan, who scored 18 off 20 balls. After losing both openers and being reduced to 19 for 2, Syed Aziz and Ahmed Akil steadied Malaysia's innings. The pair built a 58-run partnership for the third wicket. Eventually, both were dismissed after offering catches off the bowling of Abu Hider Rony. Aziz scored 40 off 52 balls, while Akil contributed 30 off 33 balls. Following their departures, Malaysia could not build any further big partnerships, ultimately finishing their innings at 105 for 4 in 20 overs.

Chasing a small target, Jisan Alam and Jawad Abrar went on the attack against the Malaysian bowlers right from the start. The duo began scoring runs rapidly in the opening stand. Although Jawad departed after scoring 23 runs off 8 balls, Jisan's storm did not stop. Jisan completed his fifty in just 19 balls. He remained unbeaten on 57 off 21 balls, an innings adorned with two fours and seven sixes. On the back of Jisan's destructive batting, Bangladesh HP secured victory by reaching 106 for 3 in just 7.4 overs.

Bangladesh HP had also defeated Malaysia by a large margin in the first T20 of the two-match series. Winning the second match, they demonstrated complete dominance over the series.

Following the T20 series, the two teams will now face off in a One-Day series. The three-match One-Day series will be held on August 12, 14, and 16 at the Bashundhara Sports Complex ground, where Malaysia's opponent will be the Bangladesh Under-23 team. The matches will begin at 9:30 AM.
