Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Sujan is facing severe criticism and mounting allegations of corruption, abuse of power, and financial irregularities accumulated over his 14-year tenure.

Despite sweeping political changes and multiple transitions in the board's leadership—spanning from former president Nazmul Hassan Papon to Faruque Ahmed, Aminul Islam Bulbul, and current BCB President Tamim Iqbal—Sujan has managed to retain his position, drawing sharp reactions from sports organizers and stakeholders.

Concerns over his tenure intensified following a formal complaint filed with the National Sports Council (NSC) by a sports enthusiast named Zaman, detailing widespread administrative and financial misconduct.

Having served in executive capacities since 2012 before being permanently appointed as CEO on August 27, 2014, Sujan has been accused of leveraging his closeness to successive board administrations to consolidate absolute authority. Critics allege that he simultaneously holds multiple crucial portfolios, including human resources and financial management oversight, effectively centralizing control to evade accountability.

Further allegations suggest that Sujan amassed substantial wealth and real estate assets domestically and internationally under his own name and those of family members through questionable means. Additional controversies involve financial discrepancies, including the alleged disappearance of approximately 12,500 to 13,000 cubic feet of specialized pitch soil out of 20,000 cubic feet procured for stadium development, resulting in an estimated financial loss of Tk 37 lakh to the board. Further scrutiny has been directed at past administrative decisions, including controversial grants and appointments linked to previous sports ministry officials and board leadership.

When contacted regarding the allegations, BCB President Tamim Iqbal declined to make an immediate statement, indicating that he would address the matter during an official press conference.

Meanwhile, sports organizers and concerned stakeholders have stepped up demands for an independent investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission to examine Sujan's assets and administrative conduct over the past decade and a half.
