Attack on chairman candidate after exchange of views with journalists in Bauphal, case filed against 16 people

A chairman candidate, his wife and child were allegedly attacked in public at Baufal Press Club in Patuakhali on their way to finish their meeting with journalists.
The incident took place on the main gate of the Bir Uttam Shamsul Alam Talukder building of Baufal Press Club at around 6 pm on Thursday. In this regard, Farid Talukder's wife Marjina Akhter filed a case against 16 people at Baufal Police Station on Friday morning, accusing Baufal Municipality BNP Joint General Secretary Masum Billah Palash.
It is learned that Farid Talukder (52). He is the younger brother of BNP central executive committee member industrialist AKM Faruk Ahmed Talukder. Farid Talukder and his family are known as philanthropists in the area and are involved in BNP politics. The victim, Farid Talukder, exchanged views with journalists at Baufal Press Club around 5 pm on Thursday. At that time, his wife Marjina Akhter (45) and son Md. Alif Talukder (23) were with him. At that time, he announced that he would run for the post of chairman of Nazirpur Union Parishad (UP) of the upazila in the upcoming elections.
On the other hand, Baufal Municipality BNP Joint General Secretary Masum Billah Haji Palash is campaigning as a chairman candidate in the same union.
Farid Talukder said on this subject, when Bir Uttam Shamsul Alam Talukder of Baufal Press Club came out of the building around 6 pm on Thursday after the exchange of views, some terrorists led by Masum Billah Palash attacked them. He, his wife and son were injured in this. With the help of the journalists present, he and his wife and son went to the press club and took position. Later, the police went and rescued them.
Baufal Municipality BNP Joint General Secretary Masum Billah Palash said, "I am not involved in the complaint filed against me at the police station. Rather, Farid Talukder attacked me with the name of Awami League leader Jahangir Talukder and successful masters."
Baufal Police Station OC Sirajul Islam said that Farid Uddin Talukder's wife, Morjina Akhter, has filed a case in this regard. Necessary action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
