 A teenage gang allegedly carried out an armed attack on multiple homes in the Moolchar village of Dighirpar area in Tongibari Upazila, Munshiganj, after being confronted over drug use. 

Victims said,  the attackers looted around 5 voris (approximately 58 grams) of gold ornaments and 200,000 Bangladeshi Taka in cash from their homes.

Upon visiting the scene, it was found that the tin gates and Thai glass windows of Nasir Haldar’s home were broken. Clothes were strewn across the floor from a steel wardrobe. Video footage revealed that around 8:30 AM on Tuesday, April 29, several members of the gang—identified as Alif (20), Yasin (22), Sani (23), Limon (23), Ismail (18), Koba (16), Nozu (16), and Ratul (17)—entered Nasir Haldar’s residence armed with wooden sticks and knives. They reportedly broke through parts of the tin and wooden fencing, forced open the doors, and shattered multiple Thai glass windows in the concrete section of the house.

The same group then went on to vandalize the nearby home of local boatman Hobi Haldar. According to Hobi, "I operate a boat on the Padma River in front of my home. These boys often gather at the ghat, use drugs, and hurl obscene language at me for no reason. Around 7 AM on Tuesday, they were abusing me again at the river ghat. When Nasir Haldar came by, I informed him of the situation. After he confronted them, they attacked his home first and then mine."

Nasir Haldar said, "When I asked them why they were harassing Hobi, they had no answer. I scolded them, and later they returned with reinforcements and attacked my house. They vandalized my home and looted five voris of gold and BDT 200,000 in cash."

Local residents stated that the teenage gang has become increasingly unruly since August 5 last year. Besides drug use, they are allegedly involved in various criminal activities throughout the area.

Tongibari Police Station OC Mahidul Islam commented, "I have received information about the incident. It appears the attacks stemmed from an altercation at the boat ghat. Legal actions will be taken based on the complaints."
