After 17 long years of imprisonment, a public reception was held for BNP Central Committee Vice Chairman and former Deputy Minister Abdus Salam Pintu in his own area Bhuiyapur, Tangail.

On Friday (February 28) afternoon, Bhuiyapur Upazila BNP organized this reception program at Bhuiyapur Government Pilot High School ground.

BNP Vice Chairman Shamshuszzaman Dudu spoke as the chief guest at the public reception program for newly released BNP Central Committee Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Pintu. He said that BNP leaders and activists have fought for the fall of dictatorship and fascism for 17 years. The fight is not over yet. Cases have been filed against lakhs of people. Many have died in prison under cover of death.

Thousands of our leaders and activists were in prison. After much struggle, struggle, and sacrifice, the country has changed. Dictatorship and fascism have fallen. But democracy has not yet been re-established. We are continuing to fight to re-establish democracy. That is why we must first arrange for the national elections. We did not say put BNP in power. Those who win the elections will form the government. He said that Abdus Salam Pintu has spent an uncertain life in prison with the death sentence on his head. He could not attend the funeral of his beloved mother. Hundreds of leaders and activists have been subjected to disappearances and murders.

BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Executive Committee Member Obaidul Haque Nasir, Tangail District BNP President Hasinuzzamil Shahin, General Secretary Advocate Farhad Iqbal, etc. spoke at the public reception program presided over by the Upazila BNP.

Meanwhile, after a long 17 years, Abdus Salam Pintu was welcomed by the leaders and activists of his own area with flowers. In the afternoon, a large crowd of leaders and activists gathered at the reception venue to see their beloved leader. The Bhuiyapur municipal area was filled with various slogans.

Salam Pintu said in his speech, "I never thought I would be able to return to you, but with the mercy of God Almighty and your prayers, I was able to return again. While in prison, I always counted the hours of death. It felt like death was knocking. He became emotional while mentioning the torture of his imprisonment.

Earlier, processions from various unions and villages of the upazila filled the high school ground to the brim. A large crowd of people, including BNP, came to see their beloved leader after a long time.
