Three people have died from excessive alcohol consumption in Gafargaon, Mymensingh. One person died at Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex on Thursday morning and two people died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in the early hours of the morning. Another youth named Masud has been admitted to the hospital after falling ill in the incident.

Earlier on Wednesday night, Masud, a resident of Ibrahimpur, Dhaka, and his friend Nizam of Brahmanbaria came to their aunt's house in Tumpara Mudipara village of Charalgi Union in Gafargaon Upazila with country-made alcohol.

According to police and local sources, four people drank alcohol at their cousin Jalil's house in Tumpara Mudipara village on Wednesday night. All four fell ill that night. Three of them became seriously ill, and Jalil, Masud and Nizam were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital that night. And Sumon was taken to the Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex on Thursday morning and declared dead by the doctor on duty.

The 3 deceased are Sumon Mia (35), son of A. Rashid of Tumpara Mudipara village in Charalgi union, A. Jalil (42), son of Rafiqul Islam of the same village, and Nizam Uddin (38) of Brahmanbaria.

Masud Mia, a resident of Ibrahimpur, Dhaka, who had come to visit his aunt's house after falling ill, is admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Masud is not yet out of danger.

Gafargaon Khana (OC) Muhammad Shibirul Islam said, so far 3 people have died after drinking alcohol. Masud, who was admitted to the hospital, is under the police's watch. I visited the scene along with the accompanying force.
