3 killed in Dinajpur road mishap

Two motorcycle riders were killed in a head-on collision with a pickup van in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur. Besides, one person was killed in a separate road accident in Nawabganj upazila.
The first incident occurred around 7:00 AM on Tuesday in the Dangapara area along the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj road in Phulbari upazila.
The deceased were identified as Saju Islam (32), son of Anwarul Islam from Jagannathpur Rampur village of Kaharol upazila, and Motaleb Hossain (33) from the same upazila.
Phulbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Khondakar Mohibbul confirmed the incident.
He stated that the motorcycle was heading towards Phulbari from Dinajpur town amid light rain when it collided head-on with a colored pickup van coming from the opposite direction near Dangapara. Motaleb Hossain died on the spot, while the motorcycle driver Saju Islam died on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, around 1:00 AM on Monday night (16 June), two trucks collided head-on on the eastern side of the Bhadoria-Bajitpur Bridge in Nawabganj upazila. One of the truck drivers, Alam Mia (28), died at the scene. Police recovered the body upon receiving the report. The deceased, Alam Mia, was the son of Haidar Ali from Chandipur Prodanpara village in Parbatipur upazila.
Nawabganj Police Station OC Abdul Matin confirmed the matter.
