3 killed, 15 injured as two buses collide on Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway

Three people were killed when a speeding bus hit a stationary passenger bus on the Dhaka-Bhanga highway in Shibchar, Madaripur. Among the dead were a supervisor of Palki Paribahan and two passengers of Hanif Paribahan. At least 15 people were injured in the incident. The accident took place in the Kandi area of Bakhar, Shibchar Expressway on Friday afternoon.
According to police and local sources, the rear left wheel of a 'Palki Paribahan' bus on the Dhaka-bound lane was damaged. Later, the driver and assistant stopped the bus on the side of the highway and were working on changing the wheel. At that time, a bus of 'Hanif Paribahan' coming from behind at a high speed lost control and hit the stationary Palki Paribahan bus.
The front and rear parts of the two buses were twisted and twisted due to the intensity of the impact. Three people died on the spot. At least 15 people were injured. Immediately after the accident, local people came forward for rescue work. Upon receiving the information, police from Shibchar Police Station and Shibchar Highway Police Station went to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital.
The accident disrupted traffic on the highway for some time. Later, traffic returned to normal after the two buses involved in the accident were removed.
SI Muktasir of Shibchar Highway Police Station said, "As soon as we received the news, our team reached the spot and conducted rescue operations. Arrangements have been made for the treatment of the injured. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased. Currently, traffic on the highway is normal.
Police said the cause of the accident is being investigated and necessary legal action will be taken in the incident.
