27 people, including women, children bitten by dog in Amtali

Some 27 pedestrians were injured by dog bites in Pallavi, AK School and Battala areas of Amtali Municipal Town. Relatives rescued the injured and admitted them to Amtali Upazila Hospital.

Among them, 10 seriously injured people have been admitted to Patuakhali and Barguna hospitals. But because there is no rabies vaccine in the upazila health complex, the patient and his relatives are in trouble. Relatives of patients are buying vaccines at high prices from pharmacies and administering them. The incident happened on Friday.

It is reported that pedestrians were bitten by dogs at Pallavi, AK School and Battala Ekala of Amtali Town on Friday morning. As the day progressed, the dog nuisance increased. On that day, 27 pedestrians were bitten by dogs from morning to four in the afternoon. Injured Maria, Abu Raihan, Safin, Sankar Chand Mathurbar, Zahid, Rafi, Masood, Abdul Malek, Arafat, Abdullah, Azam, Tamal, Johamni, Seema have been admitted to Amtali Upazila Health Complex. The other injured have been sent to Barguna and Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for primary treatment. Most of the injured in dog bites are children. On the other hand, there is no rabies vaccine in Amtali Upazila Health Complex, so the patient's relatives have to suffer. Relatives have to buy the vaccine from the pharmacy and administer it to the patient. Many patients were sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital and Barguna General Hospital without receiving the vaccine at the hospital. Relatives of patients complain that they have to buy vaccines at high prices from pharmacies as there is no vaccine in the hospital.

Sankar Chandra Matubbar, who was injured by a dog bite, said that the dog bit me and injured me in Battala of the city. He also said that since there was no vaccine in the hospital, I bought the vaccine from the pharmacy for Tk 1,500 and administered it.

The injured Seema said that he was returning home from school when a dog came and bit him. Immediately come to Amtali Upazila Health Complex for treatment. But the hospital had to suffer due to lack of vaccine. Later, I got the vaccine from the pharmacy for a thousand taka and applied it.

Dr. Moniruzzaman Khan, Medical Officer of Amtali Upazila Health Complex, said that 27 dog-bitten patients came to the hospital for treatment from morning to four in the afternoon. Among them, many patients have been sent to Patuakhali and Barguna for treatment.

Amtali Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Tenmong said, "I don't know if there is rabies vaccine in the hospital." I still don't understand the responsibility.

Amtali Upazila Executive Officer and Municipal Administrator Muhammad Ashraful Alam said, I have come to know the matter. Quick action is being taken against biting dogs.
