11 shops burnt to ashes in Fatikchhari

Eleven shops burnt down at Fatikchhari in Chittagong, causing damage worth around Tk 3 million. The incident took place at Kazirhat Bazar in the upazila at 7 am on Wednesday morning.
The damaged shops are Ranjit's sweet shop, Abu Sawdagar's rice shop, Taslim's cookery shop, Alamgir's tree shop, Taslim's bedding shop, Ansar's hotel and tea shop, Abbas's workshop, Abbas's paan shop, Taher's steel shop, Selim's Bismillah hotel, and Nurul Islam's workshop shop.
According to local sources, the fire started from Ansar Sawdagar's tea shop and spread within a moment. The locals and the Fatikchhari Fire Service tried for 2 hours to bring the fire under control. The fire burnt down 11 shops and caused damage worth around Tk 3 million.
In this regard, Fatikchhari Fire Service Officer Kamal Uddin said, "On receiving the information, our unit went to the spot and was able to put out the fire.
The shops were quickly gutted by the fire due to their tin and bamboo fences. Initially, it is believed that the fire started from the tea shop.
