The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, one of the main religious festivals of the Sanatan Dharma, was held separately in a festive atmosphere.

Khandaker Abu Ashfaq, MP for Dhaka-1, Dohar and Nawabganj constituencies, inaugurated the Rath Yatra at 4 pm on Thursday at the traditional Kalakopa Poddar Bazar in Nawabganj Upazila and at 5 pm at the central temple of the municipality at One Bank intersection in Dohar Upazila.

The presence of this Rath Yatra, which carries an ancient tradition of nearly 500 years, spread an atmosphere of joy and celebration throughout the area.

Speaking as the chief guest at the religious discussion meeting and inauguration ceremony organized on the occasion of the Rath Yatra, MP Khandaker Abu Ashfaq said, "Bangladesh is a shining example of communal harmony. The constitution gives every citizen of the country the right to practice their religion freely and without hindrance."

At this time, he instructed the law enforcement agencies to maintain round-the-clock surveillance and flawless security arrangements until the last day of the Rath Yatra, i.e. the Ulta Rath Yatra.

On the occasion of Rath Yatra, a traditional village fair is being held in the Poddar Bazar area of Dohar and Nawabganj. More than a hundred stalls of various products including cottage industries, children's toys, sweets, household items are attracting visitors. A large number of people of different religions, including leaders of local puja celebration committees, senior officials of the administration, participated in the festival. A unique example of religious harmony and coexistence has emerged in their presence.

This Rath Yatra, which has a tradition of nearly five centuries, has spread religious fervor, a festive atmosphere, and a message of harmony like every year.
