Army distributes emergency relief to flood-hit families in Hathazari
Md Hossain, Hathazari (Chattogram)
As part of its ongoing nationwide humanitarian assistance program, the Bangladesh Army has stepped in to distribute critical relief materials to hundreds of families marooned by devastating floods across various unions of Hathazari Upazila.
The military intervention, which commenced on Saturday under strict supervisory frameworks, aims to bridge severe logistical gaps left by disrupted road networks. While the local sub-district administration had initiated primary relief distribution over the past few days, a sudden and massive inundation of rural unions completely submerged connecting roads, cutting off essential ground communication channels to the worst-hit areas.
Recognizing the escalating crisis, army personnel deployed localized transport and specialized logistics to deliver daily essential food packages, clean drinking water, and emergency medical services directly to the doorsteps of affected households. During the distribution drive, military officials closely monitored the conditions of the distressed populations, offering immediate medical triage and reassurances of extended defense support.
Expressing deep relief upon receiving the packages, several local beneficiaries noted that the rapid deployment of military aid has drastically mitigated acute food shortages caused by the sudden isolation of their villages.
According to an official military statement, providing swift humanitarian support during national disasters remains a core operational responsibility of the Bangladesh Army. Defense sources confirmed that these welfare and rescue operations will continue to expand across the region until regional floodwaters recede and stable civilian logistics are fully restored.
