To ensure smooth Eid journey : 17 ferrie, 20 launches will operate on Daulatdia-Paturia route

Ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, 17 ferrie and 20 launches will operate on the Daulatdia in Rajbari and Paturia in Manikganj river routes to facilitate the smooth passage of vehicles carrying passengers and sacrificial animals. Special arrangements will be made for trucks carrying animals to cross.
 
These decisions were taken at a coordination meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room at 10 am on Saturday. . The meeting also discussed the management of the ghat and smooth operation of boat traffic during Eid.
 
Mohammad Salah Uddin, Assistant General Manager of BIWTC's Daulatdia Ghat, said, "We have completed all our preparations for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. There will be a total of 17 ferries in the fleet on the Daulatdia-Paturia route during Eid, including 9 Ro-Ro (large) ferries, 3 medium-type ferries and 5 utility (small) ferries. In addition, a total of 3 ghats, including 3, 4 and 7, will be operational at the Daulatdia end. In addition, if the water level increases before Eid-ul-Azha, another ferry ghat will be opened. Passengers will be able to cross Daulatdia Ghat without any problems through 17 ferries and 3 ghats.
 
She also said that livestock trucks will be allowed to cross specially. Livestock trucks will be able to board the ferry directly upon arrival at the pier. Passenger buses and livestock trucks will be allowed to cross on a priority basis.
 
BIWTA's Daulatdia-Paturia waterway traffic inspector (TI) Sagar Mallick said that 20 launches will ply on the Daulatdia-Paturia waterway on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. 13 launches will ply on the Aricha-Kazirhat route. 3 ghats are operational on the Paturia side and 3 on the Daulatdia side.
 
District Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abu Russell said, there will be a four-tier security system in the Daulatdia Ghat area on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. There will be multiple teams including police station police, plainclothes police, DB police. In addition, the naval police and highway police will work in coordination with us. The district police will always be on the field for the safety of passengers.
 
In the president's speech, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Sultana Akhter said that the district administration will work to ensure that the journey of people heading home on Eid is smooth. The administration will work so that the passengers can return home on Eid with ease. 
 
The movement of bulkheads carrying sand on the river will be stopped for three days before Eid and seven days after Eid, including Eid day. There will be no animal-carrying trawlers on the river in the evening. The name of the destination must be written on each animal-carrying trawler. Additional passenger transport on launches will also be stopped. In addition, animal-carrying trucks will be allowed to cross on a priority basis. There will be an executive magistrate in the Daulatdia Ghat area before and after Eid. The district administration will have a mobile court along with the law enforcement agencies. 
 
She  also said that adequate lighting should be provided at Daulatdia Ghat. Apart from this, vehicle fare charts will be visible at the terminal. In addition, various awareness banners will be placed in the Ghat area. I seek everyone's cooperation to ensure that the journey of people heading home for Eid is smooth.
 
The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Miz Sultana Akhter, and was attended by District Executive Magistrate Uchen May, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abu Rasel, District Commandant of Ansar VDP Md. Anwar Hossain Sarkar, Goalanda Upazila Executive Officer Md. Nahidur Rahman, OC of Goalando Ghat Police Station Md. Rakibul IOC  of Daulatdia Naval Police Outpost Trinath Saha, Traffic Police Inspector (TI) Ataur Rahman Khan, Assistant Director of BRTA Md. Nasir Uddin, Assistant General Manager of BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Branch Md. Salah Uddin, BIWTA TI Sagar Mallick, President of District Road Transport Owners Group Jewel, President (acting) of District Bus Minibus Transport Workers Union Ramzan Ali, President of Launch Owners Association Abdur Rashid Mallick, among others.
