
Operation by UNO : Dredging pipe destroyed, veku battery seized in Daulatdia

A person named Zahid Biswas's dredging pipe was broken and destroyed for illegally extracting sand from the Padma River using a dredging machine behind Akkas Ali High School in Daulatdia, Goalanda Upazila, Rajbari district, and the upazila administration has seized a battery of vehicular explosives for cutting soil from cropland and selling and transporting it to various places, including a brick kiln.
The operation was conducted by Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Nahidur Rahman at around 8 pm on Saturday.
In this regard, the UNO said that a drive was conducted to prevent illegal extraction of soil from agricultural land without permission and to ensure the safety of life and property on the road and prevent damage to the road. At that time, the driver abandoned the truck and escaped.
The owners of the dredger will be fined a large amount of money under the Sand and Soil Management Act and they will be warned not to cut and sell soil from any land pond with dredgers without taking permission from the upazila administration.
In addition, 30-40 pipes of a dredging machine were broken behind Akkas Ali High School for illegally extracting sand from the Padma River. He further said that this drive will continue in the public interest.
