Joint forces raided the hideout of notorious fugitive Shahinur Rahman Shahin, alias 'Dakat Shahin', in the early hours of Sunday. Shahin is a prime suspect in an arms smuggling case and has long been on the run.

The operation was carried out between 4:00 am and 6:00 am on Sunday  at Shahin's newly constructed residence in the Majhirkata area of Ramu upazila. The raid involved personnel from the district police as well as members of other law enforcement agencies.

During the raid, authorities recovered 19 rounds of various types of rifle ammunition, a money counting machine, two sharp knives, a laptop, and four IP cameras. However, Shahin managed to evade capture and was not present at the location during the operation.

According to police, Shahin is an accused in at least 17 criminal cases, including nine cases of robbery and mugging, four murders, two cases related to illegal weapons, and two involving narcotics. Several general diaries (GDs) have also been filed against him at various police stations.
