Technical and vocational education must be prioritized alongside general studies to build a skilled workforce, State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin said on Tuesday.

He emphasized that young students should not be confined to traditional academic education or degree-oriented learning alone, but must focus on practical and career-oriented education.

The state minister made the remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed 'Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin Academic Building' at Mir Noabul Huq Memorial High School in Hathazari, Chattogram, as the chief inaugurator on Tuesday.

Former minister, mayor, and ambassador Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, who is also the founder of the school, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. State Minister Barrister Mir Helal unveiled the plaque for the new academic building.

Highlighting current requirements and global contexts, State Minister Mir Helal noted that equipping students with technical skills is essential. To realize this vision, the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken revolutionary steps to expand technical and vocational education alongside general education nationwide.

Advising the students, Mir Helal urged them to build themselves into qualified and worthy citizens from now on to succeed in their future careers.

In his speech as chief guest, school founder Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin shared emotional memories of Hathazari, stating that his bond with the soil of Hathazari is deep and personal.

Chaired by the school's Headmaster Muhammad Salim Uddin Reza, the inauguration ceremony featured donor member Barrister Ishrat Nazneen Nasir, Hathazari UNO Muhammad Abdullah Al Mumin, and Education Engineering Department (EED) Chattogram Executive Engineer Tanveer Islam as special guests.
