
RMP’s humanitarian initiative: Missing child reunited with family

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police’s (RMP) Poba Police has successfully reunited an eight-year-old child with his family after he went missing from the Joydebpur area in Gazipur district. The child was found in the Bargachhi Bazar area under Poba Police Station in Rajshahi.
The rescued child, Rohan Hossain Nur (8), is the son of Md. Mamun Hossain and Mosammat Ruksana of Mirzapur area, Joydebpur Police Station, Gazipur.
According to the incident details, on May 6, 2025, at around 10:30 AM, a man saw the child crying in the Bargachhi Bazar area. When asked about his name and address, the child could not respond properly. The man then handed over the child to the officer on duty at Poba Police Station through the panel chairman of Bargachhi Union.
OC of Poba Police Station, Md. Monirul Islam, treated the child in a friendly manner and was able to obtain his name, his parents' names, and a mobile number. The child revealed that he had left home due to a dispute with his father and traveled from Dhaka to Rajshahi.
Based on the information, police contacted the mobile number of the child’s mother and, with partial address details and assistance from Joydebpur Police Station in Gazipur, were able to identify the correct address of the child.
Later, on May 7, 2025, the child’s parents appeared at the RMP Victim Support Center in Rajshahi. After verifying their national identity cards, the child was handed over to them.
The family members expressed immense joy at recovering their son safely. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to the officers of RMP’s Poba Police Station and the Victim Support Center for their support and assistance.
