 Emphasizing that the operations of the Directorate General of Food are critical and sensitive, the Food Minister said , safe food storage and quality control must be accorded top priority to ensure national food security.

She  made the observations during an exchange-of-views meeting with officials held at the Directorate General of Food conference room in the capital.on Sunday. 

Director General of the Directorate General of Food Md. Jasim Uddin Khan presided over the session, while Food Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana and senior department officials were present.

Addressing the gathering, the Food Minister instructed officials to maintain advance planning and adequate stocks to ensure uninterrupted food supply during potential natural disasters or national crised.

Highlighting infrastructure vulnerabilities across the country, the Minister specifically cited the precarious state of the Saturia food godown in Manikganj and directed officials to take swift remedial measures. He urged a comprehensive review and structural renovation of food godowns and installations nationwide.

The Minister proposed introducing a performance evaluation system for field-level officers—including Food Inspectors and Officer-in-Charge of Local Supply Depots (OC-LSDs)—to assess storage conditions, food quality, and public satisfaction, with provisions to reward good performance. 

Food Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana called on officials to execute their duties with sincerity, noting that efforts are underway to resolve manpower shortages and streamline department operations.
