Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury has affirmed that the historical and cultural bond between Bangladesh and India forms the strongest foundation of their bilateral relationship, emphasizing that cultural unity remains the most effective force for harmony.

The Minister made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi at his ministry office in the capital on Sunday.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam and Cultural Affairs Secretary Yasmin Begum were present during the nearly hour-long discussion, which covered joint initiatives to mark Nazrul Year, exchange programs for artists and researchers, classical and folk music collaborations, youth talent development, and maritime cultural heritage conservation.

Highlighting common heritage, Nitai Roy Chowdhury stated that Bangladesh and India share deep ties rooted in language, literature, music, and human values. 

During the meeting, State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam proposed establishing a joint classical music network, suggesting an initial workshop in Bangladesh featuring two classical artists from India. 

Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi agreed that the bilateral relationship is bound by shared history, language, and traditions. He assured full support for organizing large-scale international events at Kazi Nazrul Islam's birthplace in Churulia and expressed his intention to attend in person.

The High Commissioner advocated for joint training programs and residency initiatives for young talents from both nations, alongside joint research initiatives for the conservation of maritime culture centered around the Bay of Bengal.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, including the Deputy High Commissioner and the Director of the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, were also present.
