Nepal envoy pays courtesy call on Environment Minister Mintoo

Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari paid a courtesy call on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo at his Secretariat office on Sunday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed various facets of bilateral relations, focusing on environmental protection, climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest management, and strengthening regional environmental cooperation.
Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in a recent catastrophic accident in Nepal and conveyed sincere condolences to the bereaved families. Reaffirming Bangladesh's solidarity with Nepal, he noted that the Bangladesh government remains ready to extend humanitarian assistance as needed.
Highlighting shared ecological vulnerabilities, the Environment Minister stated that changes in Himalayan glaciers, river basin dynamics, and climate-induced disasters directly impact livelihoods across South Asia.
Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari expressed interest in expanding cooperation between relevant institutions of both nations through technical knowledge exchange, capacity building, and eco-friendly development ventures.
The Ambassador extended gratitude to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for demonstrating solidarity and offering assistance to Nepal during the crisis, describing the gesture as a reflection of mutual trust and deep friendship between the two peoples.
Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Fahmida Khanam was present at the meeting.
