One killed, 7 injured in head-on collision between two auto-rickshaws in Ramu

One person was killed and seven others were injured in a head-on collision between two auto-rickshaws in Ramu, Cox's Bazar.The incident occurred at around 2 pm on Monday at Purbo Para of Ward No. 4 in Kauarkhop Union of Ramu Upazila along the Ramu-Naikhongchhari road, according to Ramu Police Station OC Iman Kanti Chowdhury.The deceased, Gura Mia (55), was a resident of Khamar Para in Jalalabad Union of Eidgaon Upazila.However, the OC could not provide the names or identities of the injured.Citing local sources, OC said the accident took place in front of Master Taj Uddin’s house in Purbo Para when an auto-rickshaw coming from the Naikhongchhari side collided head-on with another coming from the opposite direction. Both vehicles were severely damaged, and a total of 8 people, including the drivers, were injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Ramu Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared one person dead.Both of the damaged vehicles have been seized. The body of the deceased is currently at the Ramu Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.
