
Devastating fire at Ashashuni Market guts five shops, school damaged

A devastating fire broke out in Ashashuni Sadar Bazar early Sunday morning, engulfing five shops and a school for children with intellectual disabilities.
The incident occurred around 6:00 AM near the Upazila Parishad intersection, causing an estimated loss of over Tk 5 million.
The fire spread rapidly, consuming several establishments including "Tariq Hardware" owned by Alomgir Hossain Pintu, "Liza Furniture" owned by Professor Bazlur Rahman, "Shimul Furniture" by Shimul Hossain, Janani Tailors, Miraj Tea Stall, and a special needs school.Local resident Abdur Samad, noticing thick smoke and flames, quickly alerted the fire brigade and civil services via mobile phone. Firefighters arrived at the scene within 10 to 15 minutes and managed to bring the fire under control in just 17 minutes.
The flames were fully extinguished within 50 minutes of their arrival.Business owner Alomgir Hossain Pintu reported a loss of approximately Tk 2 million worth of goods. Professor Bazlur Rahman's Liza Furniture sustained damages worth Tk 1.1 million, while Shimul Furniture reported losses of about Tk 550,000. In total, the financial damage is estimated to exceed Tk 5 million.According to fire service officials, the blaze is suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit.
