 Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year, was celebrated with vibrant festivities in Munshiganj on Monday 

At 8 AM, the district administration organized a colourful New Year’s parade that began from the Collectorate premises.

The parade was attended by Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tuj Zohra, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, public representatives, civil society members, and people from various professions and communities, regardless of religion or ethnicity. The procession paraded through the main roads of the city.

The suburbs came alive with the beats of traditional drums and vibrant decorations, filling the air with excitement. The parade concluded at the Shilpakala Academy, where a traditional folk fair was inaugurated. Guests toured the fair, which showcased various traditional Bengali goods and items. Additionally, a cultural program was held in the auditorium of Shilpakala Academy, continuing the formal celebration of the New Year. Everyone expressed their commitment to building a secular and prosperous nation.

Meanwhile, in Louhajang, Munshiganj, Bengali New Year 1432 was also celebrated. On Monday at 8:30 AM, the Upazila administration organized a joyous rally starting from Louhajang Girls' Pilot High School, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Nesar Uddin. The rally included officials from various departments, teachers, police, fire service and civil defense, social organizations, and educational institutions—all dressed in colorful traditional attire. 

The procession passed through the main road of Maliarangk Mor and concluded at the Upazila Parishad. Afterwards, various events were held including a discussion, cultural performances, a Panta (traditional food) festival, and a folk fair to mark the occasion
