Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) will form an insurance cell to help its teachers, officers and employees avail themselves of health and group insurance facilities, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Golam Rabbani said on Monday.
He made the announcement at a seminar on health and group insurance organised by Pragati Life Insurance Limited at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mohammad Ruhul Amin Auditorium on the university campus.
The seminar was organised to inform university employees about insurance benefits, claim procedures and the settlement process.
“Healthcare is one of the fundamental rights of people. Health and group insurance can play an important role in preventing families from facing sudden financial hardship due to unexpected illness or accidents,” Prof Rabbani said.
He said healthcare costs were increasing and that having a clear understanding of insurance benefits and claim procedures was important for ensuring financial security for policyholders.
The vice-chancellor thanked the organisers for arranging the seminar and said such initiatives would help university employees understand the services available to them.
NSTU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Hasan Uddin attended the programme as a special guest.
Chandi Kumar Sadhukhan, manager of the Group Insurance Department at Pragati Life Insurance Limited, delivered a presentation on health and group insurance benefits and insurance claim procedures.
Acting Registrar Mohammad Tamzid Hossain Chowdhury moderated the seminar.
