Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam has been awarded a special honor for winning the 'National Environment Award 2025'.

The honor was presented at a ceremony at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban today, Monday, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam was present as the chief guest at the award ceremony.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani presided over the program. Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar, Provost of Rokeya Hall Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, Professor of the Institute of Business Administration Dr. Md. Mohiuddin and Director of Accounts Mohammad Saiful Islam spoke at the program. Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed conducted the program. Deans of various faculties, Provosts of various halls, sons and daughters of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) and office heads were present.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam congratulated Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam on receiving the 'National Environment Award 2025' and said that the Dhaka University family is very proud of his achievement. The Vice Chancellor expressed hope that by continuing this line of research, he will bring more fame to the country and the university and will play an effective role in raising the position of Dhaka University to a respectable level in international rankings. He called on other teachers and researchers to follow the example of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam and conduct world-class research activities.

Incidentally, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of Dhaka University and Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Abdus Salam has been conducting research on environment, air pollution and technology for about 25 years. By conducting international standard research on air pollution, atmospheric science , climate change and public health, he has made significant contributions to improving air quality in Bangladesh, identifying pollution sources and inventing related technologies. Numerous of his research articles have been published in renowned journals at home and abroad. Professor Dr. Abdus Salam has participated in numerous conferences and workshops at home and abroad and supervised more than 150 theses.
