A press conference was organized by Upazila BNP at the temporary office of BNP at 10 am on Friday in Mirzaganj Upazila of Patuakhali.

Mirzaganj Upazila BNP President Alhaj Sahabuddin Nannu said in a written speech that in the operation conducted by the joint forces on November 7, General Secretary Md. Jahangir Hossain Farazi was arrested with an illegal pistol.

All the leaders and activists of Mirzaganj Upazila BNP including me are shocked and saddened in this regard. As a president, I order all the leaders and workers of Mirzaganj Upazila BNP to stand by the family of Jahangir Hossain Farazi. But it is very regrettable that on November 10, Jahangir Hossain Faraji's wife Suraiya Akhtar Anur suddenly called me and the leaders of Upazila BNP in a press conference and I, along with Mirzaganj Upazila BNP, were surprised and saddened.

He said, " Me and my family have been dishonored in this press conference of Jahangir Hossain Faraji's wife by finding us guilty." Not only that, an attempt has been made to harm the long-standing cleanliness and reputation of Mirzaganj Upazila BNP, which is not desirable.

Sahabuddin Nannu said, 'Jahangir Hossain Faraji has been doing BNP politics for a long time. We want him to be proved innocent and released through proper application of the law. We Mirzaganj Upazila BNP still sympathize with his family and will continue to do so. Mirzaganj BNP is running with reputation and will continue. Mirzaganj Upazila BNP will not accept it if anyone wants to apply ink here.' Later he answered various questions of the journalists present.

Upazila BNP Senior Vice-president Ahsanullah Pintu, Vice-president Golam Farooq Munshi, Joint General Secretary Harun Or Rashid Munshi and others were present.
