Mango trees covered in blossoms: Surroundings filled with sweet fragrance in Srinagar
Khan Sujon, Srinagar (Munshiganj)
In Srinagar, mango trees are getting covered in blossoms. Whether it's village roads, courtyards, or mango orchards, the sight of mango buds peeking through the green leaves is everywhere. The sweet aroma of the blossoms, carried by the cool morning breeze of spring, is adding a vibrant charm to the surroundings.
A delightful fragrance fills the air, signaling the arrival of the honey season. In various parts of the upazila, local varieties of mango trees have started blooming. Some branches are already bending under the weight of abundant blossoms. Swarms of bees are buzzing around, collecting nectar, while the gentle wind carries the sweet scent far and wide.
Locals mention that spring is approaching, bringing blooms to trees all around. They expect that a timely rainfall will wash away the dust from mango leaves and branches, making the trees even more vibrant. As blossoms appear, tiny mangoes will soon start forming. To protect these young mangoes from pests, farmers are preparing to spray fungicides on the trees.
Reports suggest that large-scale commercial mango farming is rare in this region. However, almost every household has mango trees, and some farmers have created small mango orchards on their lands. These orchards feature high-quality local and foreign mango varieties.
Local agricultural officer Mohsina Jahan Toron advised that spraying fungicides twice after the formation of young mangoes will help prevent fruit drop and protect them from pests. This will ensure a better mango yield.
