Lawyer claims allegation of forging magistrate's signature false, baseless

Advocate Md. Golam Azam, a lawyer at the Gaibandha District Judge Court, held a press conference dismissing the allegation of forging a magistrate's signature as false, baseless, and fabricated. He further alleged that a vested interest group is spreading propaganda to tarnish his professional and social reputation.
He made these remarks in a written statement during a press conference held on Tuesday at his chamber in Nuniyagari Mouza, within the Palashbari municipal town of Gaibandha.
Adv Golam Azam stated that the allegation brought against him by Asaduzzaman of Maheshpur village—claiming he forged a magistrate's signature—is entirely false and baseless. He explained that he had merely signed as an "identifier" during the execution of the relevant affidavit. He signed in good faith after verifying the identities and documents. Subsequently, the court completed the necessary proceedings through its own legal processes.
He noted that after signing as an identifier on the affidavit, he had no further contact or involvement with the concerned individuals regarding the matter. He has no connection to the content of the affidavit or the court's subsequent actions. Furthermore, the court has not issued any show-cause notice, formal notice, or summons to him regarding the alleged incident.
He expressed concern that political opponents might be misrepresenting the incident due to his family's political background. However, without directly blaming anyone, he called for an impartial investigation to uncover the truth.
Emphasizing his respect for the law and the judiciary as a lawyer, he urged journalists to verify the facts and report responsibly.
