A housewife named Akhi Mandal gave birth to four children after 15 years of marriage in Mirzapur, Tangail. She delivered three live and one dead child through surgery at Kumudini Hospital yesterday, Sunday evening. Dr. Meherun Nesa Maya, resident surgeon of the gynecology department of Kumudini Hospital, delivered the four children through surgery.It is learned that Akhi Mandal is the wife of Rati Sarkar of Jatuki village of Kanchanpur union of Basail upazila of Tangail. She was admitted to Kumudini Hospital with labor pains in the eighth month of pregnancy. On Sunday evening, Dr. Meherun Nesa Maya, resident surgeon of the gynecology department of Kumudini Hospital, delivered three live and one dead child through surgery. Among them, there were two sons and two daughters.  The hospital doctor said that a boy died in the womb.Akhi Mondal and Rati Sarkar got married 15 years ago. A year after the marriage, they gave birth to a son, but he died four days later. A year after that, Akhi Mondal gave birth to a daughter. After 15 years of marriage, she gave birth to four newborns together on Sunday.One of them died in the womb. The other three newborns and the mother are said to be healthy.Dr. Meherun Nesa Maya, Resident Surgeon of the Gynecology Department of Kumudini Hospital, said, "Conceiving four babies at once is a rare event. It happens once in five lakh twelve thousand pregnancies. Such a pregnancy is a challenge for the mother and the doctor.Akhi came to us with eight months of labor pain and by the infinite mercy of God, we delivered three live babies and one dead baby through surgery in the fastest time. The newborns have been kept in the NICU under the supervision of a pediatrician.  The three newborns and mother are doing well.
