Alhaj Md. Faisal Ahmed Sarker, a repeatedly elected former councillor of Ward 15 under the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC), has announced a unique humanitarian initiative to sponsor the Umrah pilgrimage for 10 residents from his ward every year using his personal funds.

Sarker, who also serves as Convener of the Gazipur Mahanagar Shramik League, made the announcement during a lively and participatory courtyard meeting held in front of the Jogda Sarker Bari Central Jamme Masjid recently.

The meeting brought together local elders, Islamic scholars, social workers, political figures, and youth from all walks of life to discuss infrastructure development, civic amenities, future planning, and social harmony within Ward 15. During the open discussion, local residents highlighted various long-standing grievances, demands, and suggestions regarding their neighborhood. Sarker listened attentively to the community's concerns and assured them of phased, systematic solutions to their issues.

While addressing the gathering, the former councillor unveiled his decision to fund the annual pilgrimage, a declaration that was met with immense joy and spontaneous applause from the attendees. Emphasizing his commitment to public welfare, Sarker stated that the love and trust of the local people remain his primary strength. He vowed to work tirelessly—as he has done in the past—to upgrade the ward's roads, drainage systems, clean water access, waste management, educational facilities, and religious institutions.

He also sought the active cooperation of all residents to transform Ward 15 into a model locality entirely free from drugs, terrorism, and social crimes.
