DU Assistant Prof Romana Parveen honoured as Chandpur’s 'Best Indomitable Woman'

Romana Parveen, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at Dhaka University, has been officially honored as the "Best Indomitable Woman" (Odommo Nari) of Chandpur district in the education and employment category.
Hailing from a respectable family in Matlab Uttar upazila, she received the special accolade in recognition of her outstanding track record of academic and professional triumphs.
Romana is the eldest of four children born to schoolteacher Amir Hossain Master and Sibrina Begum. She demonstrated academic excellence early on, graduating with distinction in the science group in both her SSC from Chengarchar Model Government High School and her HSC from Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls' College in Dhaka. She later enrolled at Dhaka University, where she secured the top position with the highest CGPA in both her Bachelor’s (Honours) and Master’s degree examinations.
In recognition of her extraordinary academic feats, she was awarded the prestigious Dean's Award, the Bongodwip Mahasthavir Gold Medal, and the Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua Gold Medal.
In 2022, she successfully earned her M.Phil degree from the same department for her thesis titled "Socio-Economic Condition of Buddhists: Context Dhaka City." Throughout her university life, her merit was further acknowledged through several competitive grants, including the Dr. Ganesh Chandra Barua Scholarship, the EBL-DU Scholarship, and the BNCC Merit Scholarship.
Romana began her career as a part-time teacher in 2019 and currently serves as a full-time Assistant Professor at Dhaka University.
Beyond her primary academic roles, she is actively involved in various social, humanitarian, and co-curricular organizations, serving as an active member of the Dhaka University Sports Committee, the DU Research Society, and the Leo Club.
Her footprint also extends internationally through her participation in global seminars and workshops, alongside a rich portfolio of research consisting of peer-reviewed articles and over 25 publications across various magazines, journals, and news media outlets.
