Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) on Wednesday inaugurated a Dry Pharmacology Laboratory at its Department of Pharmacology, aiming to enhance computational pharmacology research, drug discovery and clinical research capacity.
The laboratory, established under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project, was inaugurated by BMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr FM Siddiqui.
Two high-performance workstations installed at the laboratory were also inaugurated to support advanced silico computational pharmacology research.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof FM Siddiqui highlighted the growing importance of silico computational pharmacology in modern biomedical research.

He said the new laboratory will create opportunities for advanced research on drug-receptor interactions, drug-drug interaction analysis, new drug discovery and doctoral-level studies.
He expressed optimism that the Department of Pharmacology could achieve significant progress in new drug discovery, bioequivalence studies and other research fields, adding that the university will provide the necessary administrative and financial support to realise the department's full potential.
Following the inauguration, the vice chancellor visited the department's research laboratories and inspected advanced equipment, including Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) systems.
