A gang of robbers looted a pickup van carrying 168 cartons of fish by using electric shock on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Srinagar, Munshiganj.

The robbers attacked the driver and helper with an electric device, severely injuring both. The incident took place around 4:00 AM on Monday in the Ferryghat area of Patabhog Union.

According to the pickup van's helper, Al Amin Hossain, they were transporting 168 cartons of fish from Jessore to Brahmanbaria. When they reached the Ferryghat area on the expressway, a large blue pickup van intercepted them from behind. One of the assailants jumped onto their vehicle and used a black-colored device resembling a stun gun to deliver an electric shock to the driver's neck, causing him to weaken immediately.

The robbers then tied up both the driver, Abu Bakkar Siddique Sagar (28), and the helper, and stuffed cloths into their mouths. They were beaten and forcibly loaded into the rear of the robbers’ pickup van, covered with a tarp, and taken to the service lane in the Hasara area. There, the robbers tied them to a tree and fled toward Dhaka with the fish-laden pickup.

Later, a local battery-run autorickshaw driver found the victims tied to the tree and rescued them, taking them to the Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Srinagar Police Station OC  Shakil Ahmed said, “The pickup was transporting fish from Jessore to Brahmanbaria. A complaint has been filed, and police are actively working to identify and arrest the culprits.
