DU VC off to China

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam left Dhaka for China on Tuesday on a 5-day official visit to attend the 'Chinese Bridge' program being organized at Yunnan University.
During the visit, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam will deliver a speech at the inaugural ceremony of the Chinese Bridge Program at Yunnan University. In addition, he will participate in various high-level meetings and hold bilateral and multilateral discussions with the Yunnan University authorities to further strengthen the ongoing joint collaborative education and research activities between Dhaka University and Yunnan University.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between Dhaka University and Yunnan University to enhance the quality of the Chinese language program at Dhaka University. Under this program, students will spend their first two years at Dhaka University and the third year at Yunnan University, and will complete the fourth year and obtain a bachelor's degree from Dhaka University.
Vice-Chancellor ProfDr. ABM Obaidul Islam is expected to return to the country on June 27. In the absence of the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam will perform the routine duties of the Vice-Chancellor in addition to his own duties.
