DC urges further strengthening of rehab activities for prisoners in Habiganj jail

Habiganj District Jail was visited by Habiganj Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Dr. G. M. Sarfaraz. At the beginning of his visit to Habiganj Jail on Wednesday morning,.
He attended in the greening program by planting a sapling of a lukluki tree in the prison premises. Later, he spoke to the inmates and prisoners of the prison and inquired about their various problems, needs and welfare issues. During this time, he listened carefully to the prisoners' statements and gave instructions to the jail authorities on necessary matters.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the day-care center and women's training room of the prison. He was informed about the various activities conducted there and exchanged views with the concerned people. After that, he visited the prison kitchen and observed the food preparation process. He also checked the quality and standard of food served to the prisoners. At the end of the visit, the Deputy Commissioner enjoyed the musical performance performed by the cultural group formed by the prisoners of the prison.
During this time, he praised the various initiatives taken by the prison administration to ensure humane values, a corrective environment and rehabilitation activities. He also emphasized on further strengthening the skills development, job-oriented training and rehabilitation activities of the prisoners.
