Training  begins at GAU to enhance  quality of agricultural education

With the slogan “Skilled Teachers, Advanced Agricultural Education,” a three-day training program titled “Professional Capacity Development of Faculty Members of the Faculty of Agriculture at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU)” has commenced under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project.
 
The inauguration ceremony was held on Monday at 9:30 AM at the university’s Old Auditorium and was officially inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Gazipur Agricultural University, Professor Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman. The training program aims to improve the quality of agricultural education, align it with international standards, and strengthen preparations for the accreditation of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program.
 
The training will continue until June 24 and involves a total of 92 faculty members, ranging from lecturers to professors of the Faculty of Agriculture. The inaugural session was chaired by the Sub-Project Manager (SPM), Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Bachet Mia, while the welcome address was delivered by the Assistant Sub-Project Manager (ASPM), Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin.
 
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman stated, “Accreditation is an important benchmark for assessing the quality of higher education in today’s world. To ensure internationally recognized agricultural education, teaching methodologies, curricula, assessment systems, and research activities must be updated and made outcome-oriented.”
 
Following the inauguration, technical sessions were conducted by renowned experts from across the country on a range of contemporary and relevant topics. Brigadier General Tamzidul Haque Chowdhury, Managing Director of Cloud Connect AI, delivered a session on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the agricultural revolution.
 
Former GAU Prof Dr. M. A. Karim and former Director General of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, highlighted the importance of global research partnerships and international collaboration. Former Professor of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Dr. Md. Zahir Uddin, provided training on effective classroom management strategies.
