Technology , Innovation Support Center to be set up at DU to gear up research activities, MoU signed

A 'Technology and Innovation Support Center' will soon be established at Dhaka University to strengthen research and innovation activities and effectively utilize intellectual property.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Dhaka University and the Department of Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks at the Vice-Chancellor's meeting room on Sunday to establish this center. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam presided over the function.
Dhaka University Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Director General of the Department of Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks Md. Jahangir Hossain signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.
Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof Dr. Md. Selim Reza, chairmen of various departments under the Faculty of Pharmacy and senior officials of DPDT were present at the time.
The objective of this MoU is to establish a Technology and Innovation Support Center at Dhaka University under the National Network managed by the Department of Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks. This center will provide users with the facility to search patent databases and other sources of technical information through direct personal assistance.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof . ABM Obaidul Islam thanked the DPDT authorities for signing the MoU. He expressed hope that this initiative will play an effective role in strengthening the relationship between industry-academia and the government.
